Affixing Flexible Solar Panels to Canvas

We are looking at installing soft solar panels on top of our bimini but I don't really want to sew on zippers. I see some online comments about using magnets but how secure would this be. What would your company recommend, velcro, zipper, or magnets?  - Thomas

Hi Thomas, when it comes to affixing flexible solar panels to canvas, we want to make sure the panel will stay on even in a very strong breeze, here are the different options we’ve used:

- Mechanical: with the use of flat head fasteners, rubberized washers, and acorn nuts, we cauterize the canvas by creating a small hole for the fastener to pass through

- Zippers: a 3rd party sews zippers on all sides of the panel and the flexible panel is taut in all directions
