Disabling Inverter Function When Away From the Boat?

Question:

Hi Jeff.  If I’m away or out of town and my boat is at the dock in Vancouver and the power goes out (which it normally does a couple times a year), then my dehumidifier or heater would switch over to the inverter/batteries.  This of course would drain the battery quickly. Is that bad for the batteries?   - Dave

Answer:

Hi Dave, good questions. During the winter season, you should turn off your inverter, by disabling the inverter function at the remote panel. That way, when you lose AC power from the marina, your inverter is NOT powering your AC loads for a few hours and then killing your batteries in the process. Hope this helps.  - Jeff
