Question:

I’m adding a 2000 Watt inverter to my boat and not sure how that works when on shore power? Other that the inverter on/off switch, how and where would I connect the two systems? - Danny

Installing an inverter charger can be a dauting task, there are so many factors that go into a safe install. Here is a great seminar on choosing and install an inverter/charger on your boat.

To answer your question, most modern inverter/chargers will provide power to your outlet onboard via an inbuilt bypass switche that then disconnects when shore power is removed if set correctly.
