Two Battery Banks, Two Battery Monitors?

Question:

I am installing a battery monitor and am not sure if I need two monitors and where to install the shunt. My battery setup is unique in that I have two banks with two batteries in each bank that are connected together with by a common ground and a solenoid which combines all 4 when when starting. I have purchased two monitors but since the two banks are connected via common ground I am not sure if its possible to monitor both? - Todd

Answer:

Each battery bank of two batteries should have its own battery monitor and associated shunt. The battery monitor shunt should be installed between the negative post of the each battery bank and the DC distribution. Good luck with your project.  - Jeff
