Where Do I Find the Chassis Ground?

Question:

I'm installing a Victron MP II (3VA) with LiFePo batteries. I'm trying to locate where to connect the chassis ground (3/0)? I dont see a common ground bus on the boat anywhere. The AC grounds terminate in a ground bus at the AC panel. The DC house battery (heads, water pumps, bilge etc.) is not grounded to the engine or anywhere else. Should I connect the inverter chassis ground to the engine? Do I need to ground the inverter batteries there too? The boat is aluminum and has a galvanic isolator on AC. Thank you! - Brian

Answer:

In this case you may need to create a common ground bus on the boat, there should be a negative and ground connection between the battery systems, shore power systems and engine. A heavy duty bus bar would be an ideal place to terminate all these connections.
